2023年广东全省工业和信息化工作会议在广州召开，部署今后五年和2023年重点工作。“大产业”“大平台”“大项目”“大企业”“大环境”是今年广东制造业五大发力点。根据规划，2023年，广东将进一步提质壮大现有8个万亿级支柱产业集群，计划再打造若干新的万亿级产业集群，培育4个以上五千亿级新增长引擎。同时，新推动9000家工业企业开展技术改造，推动5000家规上工业企业数字化转型，带动10万家中小企业“上云用云”。
中山大学岭南学院经济学系教授林江表示，广东拥有雄厚的产业基础，完善的产业配套，对于助力广东乃至全国经济稳增长具有重要作用。广东通过大力发展新经济新产业，持续推动产业结构优化调整，提升自身经济发展的内生动力和竞争优势。工业投资是推动制造业增长的核心动力，短期能够有效拉动经济增长，长期来看能够解决产业发展面临的结构性问题。
