Airbnb
One, airbnb officially announced on the morning of 24th that it will officially close its local business in China.
The news topped the list of trending searches on Weibo. Not much in life, but trending in death.
On the one hand, the localization is not thorough enough, and it is not promoted as a large number of domestic apps. On the other hand, this travel mode is not mainstream in China, and due to the moral and legal level, disputes between tenants and tenants keep restricting this booking software to some minority groups. However, this does not affect the status of Airbnb in the hearts of fans and the global position of the industry, Airbnb is still the world’s largest home booking software platform.
This time Airbnb is saying goodbye to its fans and users in China. Airbnb later removed all local listings from the Chinese mainland, meaning that both Chinese and foreign residents will no longer be able to book a room located in mainland China.
The software platform can still be used in China to book rooms abroad, but under the current strict restrictions on leaving the country, few people can go out and bear the high cost of air tickets, which means the domestic business has stopped altogether. As a booking platform, that’s pretty much the same as quitting altogether.
Echoing the recent drastic layoffs of several domestic Internet companies, the current message is to lay off most of the employees in China. If all domestic housing listings are removed, only a small number of data center operation and maintenance staff and customer service staff need to be retained, or even do not need to be retained. Chinese-speaking countries in Southeast Asia can also replace these jobs.

Third, about Airbnb
Airbnb was founded in 2008, set up a small team in China in 2014, and launched its business in the Chinese market in 2015. At the end of March 2017, it named “Aibiying” as the Chinese name of its brand and product, which means that it officially provides online short-term rental services in China as a localization company.
