从直观逻辑简单谈谈华为自研ERP系统具有的5个优势

近期华为任正非任总在一次讲话中提及的内容在相关行业引起了广泛的关注,任总提到:

今年4月份我们的MetaERP将会宣誓,完全用自己的操作系统、数据库、编译器和语言……,做出了自己的管理系统MetaERP软件。MetaERP已经历了公司全球各部门的应用实战考验,经过了公司的总账使用年度结算考验,我们公司的账是业界中很复杂的,已成功地证明MetaERP是有把握推广的。

这几天网上看到的相关内容以及来探讨的同行都比较多,因为MetaERP在今年4月份将正式推出,虽然这几年行业内各种有关的零星信息一直也有,但是在没有获得更多华为官方准确信息的情况下,对于一款全新的重量级ERP产品而言,现在能谈的其实不是太多,所以只能从一些直观的逻辑上简单谈谈我个人的一些观点。数字化转型网www.szhzxw.cn

因为开发一套经典定义下的ERP系统是非常不容易的,所以此前没有获悉华为自研ERP消息的人在意外之余,也会对这套系统的功能提出一些疑问,比如是不是只是一套财务系统?而且任总谈话中也突出的是财务内容。从目前了解到的信息看,华为这套系统是包括相关业务模块的,比如采购、销售、生产等模块。因为,华为早在1996年就已经全面应用了Oracle EBS R10.6的13个核心业务模块,而在2022年7月华为是用自研的MetaERP全面替换了Oracle EBS,全面替换就意味着包括了业务相关模块。

其次,业财一体已经是信息化多年来的基本内容了,对能够承载“华为很复杂的账”的系统来说,业务模块与财务模块的一体化也是最基本的功能。而对MetaERP的全模块,尽管任总没有直接提及,但华为作为全球领先的ICT(信息与通信)基础设施和智能终端提供商,华为在制造、供应链等方面的管理水准也是业界一流的,所以能够“经历华为全球各部门的应用实战的考验”,MetaERP的全模块功能是值得期待的。

另外,华为是非常务实的一家企业,比如对即将推出的新管理系统,华为并没有为此提出一些新的名词,比如:某种数字化平台、某种能力平台等。虽然从看到的信息中华为在系统架构方面是有自己一些设计的(比如耦合度方面),但华为还是秉承系统功能实质,给系统命名为MetaERP,是个ERP系统。那么从1990年美国Gartner提出的ERP概念,到国家标准GB/T 25109.1-2010 “企业资源计划 第1部分:ERP术语”的定义,再到行业内多家软件厂商的典型ERP产品看,典型的ERP系统是包括了采购、销售、生产等模块的。那么华为自研的企业管理系统仍然命名为ERP系统,那么直观逻辑上也会包括典型的全业务模块。

以下基于直观逻辑,简单谈谈华为相比国内其他ERP软件厂商的5个优势。

第一个,与国内头部的几家ERP软件厂商相比,华为虽然是ERP产品的新厂商,但华为却是ERP系统的资深用户。

其他厂商虽然开发有ERP等很多软件产品,但大部分自身是软件厂商,并不是ERP系统全模块的用户;华为要用MetaERP全面支撑自己庞大的业务和管理,过程中能够更直接的洞察需求本质,并且为了自己用的更好,也会有更贴合的功能实现需求。所以在对一些需求的把握和功能的响应程度上,华为自身作为ERP全模块的用户,有着一定的优势。典型的套装ERP产品因为能够很好的实现对业务实质过程的管理,所以能够多行业应用。诚然,华为MetaERP现阶段的行业解决方案就是华为自己,但随着MetaERP的市场化,在华为和合作伙伴的共同努力下,行业解决方案应该会越来越丰富。而华为作为ICT厂商,拥有规模庞大和专业的开发资源(含外包资源),软件开发也是华为的主业内容之一,与部分跨界进入商用软件业务的企业相比,华为具有保障ERP软件持续迭代和发展的能力。数字化转型网www.szhzxw.cn

第二个,一个ERP产品的生命力和竞争力,与生态建设有重要的直接关系,即好的ERP产品也需要好的顾问、好的实施厂商才能实施好。

那么基于华为多年Oracle EBS、多种系统的应用所形成的一定规模的合作生态,以及EBS自身与SAP类似的较好的生态,对华为MetaERP来说都是有帮助的。而Oracle EBS近些年因为Oracle原厂和大环境的原因,EBS后续在国内的发展是比较有限的,那么EBS的生态资源转向MetaERP或许是一个直观的方向。而华为自身就是典型的高端ERP客户,所以MetaERP直接对应的就是高端ERP产品。华为自己有较强的咨询和实施能力,同时作为服务于也是高端ERP系统Oracle EBS的若干生态伙伴,也具有较强的服务于高端客户的能力和经验,所以MetaERP产品和服务在高端客户层面也具有一定的优势。

第三个,华为选择自研ERP有着多方面的原因。

华为是全球化企业,对系统的国际化功能和能力要求是非常高的,而国内其他ERP软件厂商在此方面长期存在短板,且短期也不容易改善,这也是促使华为自研的重要因素之一。在国际化方面,系统要全模块的支持多币种、多时区、多会计准则等功能,同时还要有熟悉各国业务和财税等方面的业务和技术专家,而华为在170多个国家和地区开展业务,在很多国家都有属地化经营的机构,这些机构常年在所在国深耕,对当地非常熟悉(我此前所在企业就有较多海外机构,所以深知驻外机构的重要性,特别是在国外工作生活多年的人员以及外籍员工对业务的巨大价值),有华为的全球化管理能力和众多驻外机构的支持,使得华为在国际化能力方面有着显著优势,这是国内其他ERP软件厂商所不具备的。同时,一款ERP产品要真正具有国际化能力,仅仅是中国企业在海外业务中应用是远远不够的,必须要有大量国外企业应用才行,那么在一定阶段后,华为大量的海外机构都可以作为MetaERP在所在国面向外国企业推广的重要资源,华为的全球化能力一旦在ERP领域发力其能量是巨大的。

第四个,任总提到MetaERP“完全用自己的操作系统、数据库、编译器和语言……”,相当于提供的是全套解决方案。

此前同时拥有ERP软件和数据库产品的厂商有SAP(HANA内存计算数据库)和Oracle,现在有了华为,而国内其他ERP软件厂商基本没有自己的数据库产品;在操作系统方面,同时拥有服务器端、PC端、移动端操作系统产品的,目前看只有华为。而且以上这些都是华为自主可控的,那么就能够对ERP软件、操作系统、数据库做系统性调优,从而达到最佳的性能,这对全面采用华为解决方案的客户来说是很有价值的。且华为的上述产品都是国产的,在信创和国产化替代方面,华为MetaERP及整体解决方案直观看非常有竞争力。数字化转型网www.szhzxw.cn

第五个,从行业内多年来一直津津乐道的华为当年斥巨资请IBM做咨询开始,华为一直非常重视咨询,希望向卓越学习让自己变得更强。

而ERP类建设项目,从来都不单单是一个软件的直接应用,一定会涉及业务和管理的梳理与分析,伴随着各种业务和流程问题的解决和系统落地,客户非常需要咨询能力强的厂商,通过应用ERP系统在信息化层面协助客户解决问题。基于多年的咨询和自我实践及总结,华为已经在部分领域形成了咨询业务能力,例如数字化转型咨询业务已广泛的推向了市场。现阶段,华为与ERP相关的咨询能力应该会随着MetaERP的市场化逐步增强,但更重要的是,因为华为深刻理解咨询的价值并且重视,那么对与ERP产品一并提供的咨询落地服务,华为应该有着超过一般企业的考虑和能力,这方面也是国内其他ERP软件厂商此前不太具备的特质。

以上5点是在华为MetaERP正式推出之前,基于一些直观逻辑想到的内容,仅是个人观点,供探讨。ERP或者企业端应用是非常有深度的,成为领先的ERP厂商需要厂商和客户多年的不懈努力,华为MetaERP的加入为ERP用户提供了更为丰富的选择,也为国内其他ERP软件厂商增加了一位有力的友商。在高端ERP市场,华为MateERP具有很积极的推动力(同赛道的选手需要跑的一样快),在满足高端客户应用(大型集团企业、复杂业务场景)、国产化替代、国际化应用等需求方面,华为MetaERP值得期待,或者说,行业内需要有华为MeteERP一样的产品,祝愿华为MetaERP和其他国产ERP都可以成功。数字化转型网www.szhzxw.cn

From some intuitive logic to briefly talk about some of my personal views.

In recent days, I have seen a lot of relevant content online and discussed with many peers, because MetaERP will be officially launched in April this year. Although various bits and pieces of relevant information have been available in the industry in recent years, without obtaining more accurate official information from Huawei, there is not much to talk about for a new heavyweight ERP product. So I can only talk about my personal opinions from some intuitive logic.

Because it is not easy to develop a set of ERP system under the classic definition, people who have not learned the news of Huawei’s self-developed ERP before will also ask some questions about the functions of this system, such as is it just a financial system? Also prominent in Mr. Ren’s talk was the financial content. According to the information we have learned so far, the system of Huawei includes relevant business modules, such as procurement, sales and production modules. As early as 1996, Huawei had fully applied the 13 core business modules of Oracle EBS R10.6, and in July 2022, Huawei fully replaced Oracle EBS with self-developed MetaERP, which means that the comprehensive replacement includes business-related modules.

Secondly, the integration of industry and finance has been the basic content of informatization for many years.

For the system that can carry “Huawei’s complicated accounts”, the integration of business module and finance module is also the most basic function. As for the full module of MetaERP, although Ren did not directly mention it, Huawei, as the world’s leading ICT (information and communication) infrastructure and intelligent terminal provider, also has the industry’s first-class management level in manufacturing, supply chain and other aspects, so it can “experience the test of the practical application of Huawei’s global departments”. In addition, Huawei is a very pragmatic enterprise.

Although other manufacturers have developed many software products such as ERP, most of them are software manufacturers themselves, not users of the whole module of ERP system. Huawei needs to use MetaERP to fully support its huge business and management. In the process, it can have a more direct insight into the nature of requirements. And in order to better use, it will also have more suitable functional implementation requirements. Therefore, Huawei, as a user of the full ERP module, has certain advantages in terms of its ability to grasp some requirements and respond to functions. Admittedly, the current industry solution of Huawei MetaERP is Huawei itself, but with the marketization of MetaERP. With the joint efforts of Huawei and its partners, the industry solutions should be more and more abundant. As an ICT manufacturer, Huawei has a large scale and professional development resources (including outsourcing resources). Software development is also one of its main industries. Compared with some enterprises that enter commercial software business across the industry. Huawei has the ability to ensure the continuous iteration and development of ERP software.

Secondly, the vitality and competitiveness of an ERP product is directly related to ecological construction, that is, a good ERP product also needs a good consultant and a good implementing manufacturer to implement well.

It is helpful for Huawei MetaERP to build a cooperative ecosystem of a certain scale based on Oracle EBS and applications of various systems over the years. As well as a good ecosystem similar to SAP of EBS itself. In recent years, due to the reasons of the original Oracle factory and the environment. The subsequent development of Oracle EBS in China is relatively limited. Therefore, it may be an intuitive direction for the ecological resources of EBS to MetaERP. However, Huawei itself is a typical high-end ERP customer, so MetaERP directly corresponds to high-end ERP products. Huawei has strong consulting and implementation capabilities. Meanwhile, as several ecological partners serving high-end ERP system Oracle EBS. Huawei also has strong capabilities and experience in serving high-end customers. Therefore, MetaERP products and services also have certain advantages in high-end customers.

Thirdly, there are many reasons for Huawei to choose self-developed ERP.

As a global enterprise, Huawei has very high requirements for the international functions and capabilities of the system. While other domestic ERP software manufacturers have long-term weaknesses in this aspect. And it is not easy to improve in the short term, which is also one of the important factors to promote Huawei’s self-research. In terms of internationalization, the system should support multi-currency, multi-time zone, multi-accounting standards and other functions in the whole module. As well as business and technical experts familiar with business, finance and taxation of various countries. Huawei has business operations in more than 170 countries and regions. And localized operation institutions in many countries, which have been deeply engaged in the host countries all year round.

I am very familiar with the local area (my previous company had many overseas organizations. So I know the importance of overseas organizations. Especially those who have worked and lived abroad for many years and the great value of foreign employees to the business). Huawei’s global management ability and the support of many overseas organizations give Huawei a significant advantage in internationalization ability. This is other domestic ERP software manufacturers do not have.

At the same time, in order for an ERP product to be truly internationalized, it is far from enough for Chinese enterprises to apply it in their overseas businesses. And a large number of foreign enterprises must apply it. In a certain stage, a large number of overseas organizations of Huawei can be used as important resources for MetaERP to be promoted to foreign enterprises in the host countries. Once Huawei’s globalization capability is exerted in ERP field, its energy is huge.

Fourth, Ren mentioned that MetaERP “uses its own operating system, database, compiler and language…” , equivalent to offering a complete set of solutions.

Previously, SAP (HANA memory computing database) and Oracle have both ERP software and database products. And now Huawei, while other domestic ERP software manufacturers have no database products of their own. In terms of operating system, only Huawei has server, PC and mobile operating system products. Moreover, all the above are controlled by Huawei, so we can systematically tune ERP software, operating system and database to achieve the best performance. Which is of great value to customers who fully adopt Huawei solutions. In addition, the above products of Huawei are all domestic products. In terms of Xinchuang and localization replacement, Huawei MetaERP and its overall solution are visually very competitive.

Fifth, since Huawei, which has been talked about in the industry for many years, invited IBM to consult with a huge amount of money, Huawei has always attached great importance to consulting, hoping to learn from excellence to make itself stronger.

ERP construction projects, however, are never just a direct application of software. But will certainly involve the sorting and analysis of business and management. With the solution of various business and process problems and the implementation of the system, customers are in great need of manufacturers with strong consulting ability to help customers solve problems through the application of ERP system at the information level. Based on years of consulting and self-practice and summary, Huawei has formed consulting business capability in some fields.

For example, digital transformation consulting business has been widely introduced to the market. At the present stage, Huawei’s ERP related consulting ability should be gradually enhanced with the marketization of MetaERP. But more importantly, because Huawei deeply understands the value of consulting and attaches great importance to it. Huawei should have more consideration and ability than other enterprises to provide landing consulting services together with ERP products. This aspect is also the characteristics of other domestic ERP software manufacturers did not have before.

The above five points are based on some intuitive logic before the official launch of Huawei MetaERP.

They are only my personal views for discussion. ERP or enterprise application is very deep, to become a leading ERP manufacturer requires many years of unremitting efforts from manufacturers and customers. The addition of Huawei MetaERP provides more rich choices for ERP users. And also adds a powerful friend for other ERP software manufacturers in China. In the high-end ERP market, Huawei MateERP has a very positive driving force. (as fast as the racetrack runners need to run). In terms of meeting the needs of high-end customer applications (large group enterprises, complex business scenarios), localization replacement, and international applications. Huawei MetaERP is worthy of expectation, or in other words, Products like Huawei MeteERP are needed in the industry. I wish Huawei MetaERP and other domestic ERP can be successful.
