On August 30, Schneider Electric and Liugang Group jointly held a digital solutions exchange meeting, introducing the “lighthouse factory” concept and practice, green innovation digital technology, and dual-carbon consulting and landing solutions, which means that the two sides will have a deeper exploration on the road to digitalization. The two companies are entering a new honeymoon period together.
Previously, by relying on Schneider Electric EcoStruxure architecture and platform, AVEVA system platform, Modicon series PLC, and integrated digital and intelligent technology, Liugang Group completed the digital transformation of factory energy management and industrial automation, to achieve its own operational efficiency spiral.
As a person who witnessed this, Shi Peirun, deputy general manager of Liugang Group, was deeply moved. He believed that “the deep integration of the new generation of information technology. And manufacturing industry is causing far-reaching industrial changes.”
“Lighthouse Factory” is known as the most advanced factory in the world, is a demonstration of digital manufacturing and globalization 4.0. Representing the highest level of intelligent manufacturing. And digitalization in today’s global manufacturing field.
After 40 years of reform and opening up, China’s industry is upgrading from the original “made in China” to “China’s intelligent manufacturing”.
And more and more factories like Liugang take “lighthouse factory” as the highest goal. In 2022, China ranks first in the world with the number of 50 “lighthouse factories” sealed by the Davos Forum. And “integration of number and reality” has become a necessary option.
As a global digital transformation specialist in energy management and industrial automation, Schneider Electric operates five “lighthouse factories” around the world. In the past few years, Schneider Electric has not only completed the digital transformation of its own factories, but also helped Sanning Chemical, Dongming Petrochemical, Tianjin Jinrong, Jiangxi Weigao and other Chinese manufacturing enterprises to promote the “integration of data and reality”, such cases are happening every month.
Practice accumulation is gradually bearing industry-leading results. At the 2023 China International Fair for Trade in Services (hereinafter referred to as “Service Trade Fair”), Schneider Electric released the latest “One body and two wings” innovation results, combining the leading software with the newly upgraded service system, providing a new path of “digital integration” for major industries, and also providing advanced productivity tools for China’s manufacturing industry to step into the “lighthouse factory”.
“‘ real integration ‘has become the only way to industrial transformation and upgrading.
Enterprises are in urgent need of digital technology to empower the entity business as a whole, and need to promote the deep integration of technology and business through services to achieve value landing.” Schneider Electric believes that digital technology, represented by software, and enterprise services, which fully cover business processes, are the two indispensable wings of building ‘digital real convergence’.” Schneider Electric senior vice president, strategy and development China head Xiong Yi said.
Shanghai Huayi (Group) Company (hereinafter referred to as Shanghai Huayi), located in Qinzhou, Guangxi. Is the largest single investment in Guangxi industrial project, with a total investment of more than 90 billion yuan. In this project, Schneider Electric built a “digital factory” for it.
Digital factory is one of the key technologies for the 21st century, that is, while building a factory, create a digital twin of the factory in the virtual world, by mapping the workshop, assembly line, equipment, etc. of the physical factory in the digital factory, you can achieve real-time monitoring of the physical factory, and you can predict the state or problem that may occur at any time.
In this digital factory built by Schneider Electric for Shanghai Huayi.
It is not only possible to establish a 3D model with a 1:1 ratio with reality, but also to input a variety of engineering data of the device to realize the digitization of the whole process from demand analysis, planning and design, construction and implementation to production and operation.
In terms of operation, in addition to providing these electrical equipment and edge control systems, Schneider Electric uses a combination of a series of software to provide full life cycle solutions for Huayi Qinzhou Base in Shanghai.
Throughout the construction process of the digital factory. Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure integrated platform has played the biggest role, with AVEVA E3D/PDMS 3D design software, AVEVA AIM asset information management platform, AVEVA PI System big data management addition and other software integrated with the platform. The EcoStruxure architecture and platform, which combines energy, automation and software, is the cornerstone of Schneider Electric’s drive for digital transformation in energy management and automation.
In the specific enabling process. Schneider Electric deployed the AVEVA OTS operator simulation training system on the cloud platform.
And Shanghai Huayi employees can perform operations in the digital factory that are nearly equivalent to the real world. Thus familiarizing themselves with the equipment and processes in advance . Reducing the training and production cycle after the factory is completed.
Through the digital twin technology such as the digital factory. The physical world and the digital world form an effective connection. And Shanghai Huayi realizes the collection and management of high-quality data such as capacity, quality, equipment and energy, so that every link in the production process becomes observable and predictable.
Such cases occur not only in Shanghai Huayi, but also in Sanning Chemical, Liusteel and other enterprises. Through the Internet of everything, with software as the center, Schneider Electric makes the digital factory completely parallel to the actual factory, helping the major industries in China to cultivate the soil of “digital and real integration”.
Why Schneider Electric?
When the wave of “digital-real integration” sweeps across China’s major industries and rises to the national strategy. The question arises: why do so many companies jointly choose Schneider Electric?
The answer is: As an enterprise with a history of 187 years, Schneider Electric has undergone four times of changes and continuous self-innovation, and has transformed from the steel industry to a digital expert with hardware and software integration technology. Among them, the most critical layout is to start from the digitization of the underlying equipment and hardware products, gradually realize the underlying interconnection, and then open up OT and IT. It forms a leading software portfolio in specialized areas such as industrial automation and energy management.
Based on its software capabilities, Schneider Electric has built a synergistic “industrial digital twin” and “energy digital twin”, while providing digital services throughout the entire cycle of business operations. Through the integration of software and services and other areas of advantages, Schneider Electric has formed a “one body and two wings” to promote the “digital integration” of enterprises.
Do the practitioner first, then do the enabler, this is Schneider Electric’s own requirements. Schneider Electric’s 18 smart factories and smart logistics centers in China are themselves the best practice of “digital integration”.
At Schneider Electric’s Wuxi plant, based on the EcoStruxure platform.
Its software applications cover every link from procurement, production to delivery, helping the factory to realize the visualization of the entire supply chain and energy efficiency throughout the life cycle: Under the premise of ensuring 100% safe and reliable operation of the system, the factory achieves 100% green electricity consumption, the average KWH cost in the operation stage is reduced by 7%, the storage space is saved by 52%, and the annual production efficiency is increased by 14%. Thanks to this achievement, the Wuxi plant was awarded the title of “end-to-end Lighthouse Factory” in Davos.
At Schneider Electric’s Smart Logistics Center in Shanghai, the deployment of the EcoStruxure open automation platform has increased the speed of fault identification and elimination by four times, reduced the error rate by 45 percent, and increased the throughput of the logistics center by 5.3 percent.
For each of the above factories and logistics centers, from design, construction, operation and maintenance, Schneider Electric will make digital documentation for each project, describe and revise the same document at different times, overlay the original design document, and realize visual analysis and management of each equipment and production process, thus achieving the digital twin of industrial automation.
In terms of digitalization of energy management.
Schneider Electric uses ETAP’s new electric system digital twin platform to build virtual models and provide comprehensive analysis for different stages of the entire life cycle of electrical systems from design, construction, operation to maintenance, helping enterprises improve design and operation efficiency, electricity reliability and asset and equipment performance. In order to achieve a full range of efficient, accurate, professional refined energy management. It’s the digital twin of energy.
Now, more and more enterprises are no longer satisfied with a single digital twin in industrial automation or energy management, but the combination of the two, drawing a clear arrow toward the smart factory, the digital factory. What Schneider Electric does in the “integration of data and reality” is to closely cooperate with the two digital twins to effectively open up the two fields of energy management and industrial automation for users, and implement it to each specific application scenario to achieve an overall improvement in efficiency.
A certain trend is that the core productivity of the future enterprise is moving from the traditional hardware collection to software-driven automation, and constantly strengthening the comprehensive capabilities of OT+IT. As an example, in March 2023, Schneider Electric and Sainty Marine Optical signed a strategic cooperation agreement, which makes it clear that the two sides will continue the close cooperation in energy management and automation over the past seven years, and will work together in important areas such as smart manufacturing and sustainable development in the next five years.
peroration
Not only in China, in the past decade, Schneider Electric has helped hundreds of companies around the world to complete the “digital reality integration”, including the world’s 11 top food and beverage brands, 40% of the world’s hospitals, the world’s 10 largest automobile and battery manufacturers, the world’s 10 largest airports and so on.
“The ‘real integration’ first must have a scene, the second must be able to land, the third must really bring economic benefits or value, this is our theme.” Xiong Yi said.
In the digital world, Schneider Electric and its customers are taking big steps forward: they integrate IT and OT technologies, build virtual models from design, construction, operation to maintenance with software as the center, and provide comprehensive analysis to cover the digital capabilities of the full life cycle, and transform the data generated by the integration of IT and OT into new assets and new power.
In 2022, China’s digital economy broke through the scale of 50 trillion yuan for the first time, and the results have attracted worldwide attention, and the “integration of data and reality” has not only become a real present, but also a future that cannot be ignored.
Schneider Electric, a century-old enterprise, is using the “two wings” of software and services to help enterprises build a supply chain system with high sensitivity, high flexibility, high reliability and high resilience through the “integration of data and reality”, comprehensively improving the lean operation level and overall efficiency of enterprises, and helping enterprises to move towards a “lighthouse factory”.
