MES应用于生产制造过程中，也就是在产品生产环节中，通过给每个产品一个独立的身份—条码来进行管理。
产品在经过预先设立的扫描管控点时，必须扫描产品条码过站，如果前一工站没有进行扫描，产品流到后一工站是无法扫描过站的。

2. WMS系统应用面是什么？
WMS系统主要用于材料帐务管理上面，这个咋一看和ERP有些冲突，但实际上WMS系统也有其存在的价值。
WMS系统是因材料追溯应运而生的，也就是说，工厂生产成品所用的原材料是哪一个供应商提供的、这些材料的批次(DATECODE)、进料日期和数量、生产用去了多少、还剩下多少……
而这些功能，ERP是无法满足的，可以说WMS系统是ERP系统某些功能的一个加强版。
简而言之，MES系统用生产制程中，能清楚地记录每个工序的情况。WMS系统则更注重于材料追溯，通过材料条码，清楚的记录材料的相关信息。
